Summer Day Camps
Summer camps run for 5 ½ days, Monday – Friday then an exhibition riding demonstration is given by campers for their parents on Saturday morning. We offer a Full Day Camp which goes until 6:00 and, for those who wish for a shorter day, an Early Out Day Camp option which gets out at 2:30. Both options have the same amount of riding time however the Full Day campers may swim and help feed the horses at the end of the day. Both options include the exhibition on Saturday where the kids arrive at 8:00 do some chores, then prepare their horses for the exhibition which starts at 10:00 and ends about 11:30.
Daily camp activities include cleaning the stalls, a riding lesson, and classroom instruction in horsemanship. The Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) manuals are used as a study guide. Campers progress through the skill levels by taking a written and riding test at the end of the week. In addition to riding, campers learn about the care of horses, and participate in tacking them, and washing and grooming them. A fun horseback riding activity is held in the afternoon, such as games on horseback, vaulting, a trail ride, or bareback riding. Full Day camp other activities include swimming, games, crafts and helping with the afternoon horse chores.
Prices subject to change without notice.

Spring Break Camps
See the current year camp & lesson schedules for this years dates already scheduled. If you want any different dates please let me know by phone or email. Please be sure to indicate which week you are interested in. We need at least 3 weeks advance notice in order to get a staff together for the camps. A minimum of 3 campers is needed to have a camp. The weeks people have asked about will be advertised here, along with the number of campers needed to fill the camp. During Spring Camps, students can attend any number of days it is offered, 1 day, 2 days or all 3 days.
See the current year camp & lesson schedules for this years dates. During Winter Camps, students can attend any number of days, 1 day up to all 5 days. If they attend all 5 days they can test to pass a level or partial level.
Beginner riders and new riders to Shady Lawn Ranch are not allowed in the Winter camps due to unpredictable weather (it is difficult to hear instructions and if the rider does not already know what is expected they could get hurt.) If you want a beginner to have a riding experience during Winter Break see the Winter Daily Lessons.
